Consecutive Month
NEW YORK, Nov. 13, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (Nasdaq:NDAQ) today announced its consolidated market performance statistics for the NASDAQ Market Center for the month of October.
NASDAQ's matched market share of all U.S. Equity share volume was 29.6% in October 2007, more than any other U.S. exchange for the sixth consecutive month. NASDAQ's matched volume in all U.S. securities was 42.0 billion shares, an increase from 31.1 billion in October 2006.
During October, NASDAQ's handled market share in NASDAQ-listed securities was 73.7%(1) and matched market share in NASDAQ-listed securities was 45.0%.
NASDAQ's total reported market share in NYSE-listed stocks was a record high 37.4%(2) in October. NASDAQ's matched market share in NYSE-listed securities in last month was 18.4%, up from 13.4% in October 2006. NASDAQ's handled market share in NYSE-listed securities was 53.7% last month.(3)
NASDAQ's total reported market share of all U.S. ETF volume in October was 53.6%(4), with 9.3 billion shares changing hands. NASDAQ's matched market share of all U.S. ETF volume was 37.9%, a record high for the second consecutive month. Matched volume was 6.6 billion, more than any other U.S. exchange.
Included in NASDAQ's handled and total reported share in October for all U.S.-listed, NASDAQ-listed, NYSE-listed, and ETF securities are average daily volumes of 1.3 billion, 529 million, 635 million, and 118 million shares, respectively, reported to the FINRA/NASDAQ Trade Reporting Facility(tm).(5)
